BOWIE
CITY HALL SCHOOL - CLASS IN SESSION
All right class, pencils and paper out, time for a quick multiple choice quiz question
to see if you've been concentrating here at Bowie City Hall School.
No Dennis Brady, you may not go to the bathroom
now.
Gee Fred Flintstone, PLEASE remove that pencil from your nostril, accidents happen that way - and, we wouldn't
want an accident would we?
Now here's the question; pay attention Diane!
What is the purpose of the "State
of the City" address?
Yes, Geraldine, I can repeat the question... What is the purpose of "State of the City Address?"
Stop
that whimpering Dennis Brady, you only have yourself to blame if you didn't do your homework. And besides, you can always
use your self touted excellent analytical skills to work out which of the answers is most likely.
Yes, Isaac - this
quiz counts toward your final grade in 2009!
Gee Fred Flintstone, get your finger out of your ear!
Now, here
are your choices:
A. An opportunity to give Gee Fred Flintstone free publicity in the final Bowie Blade News right
before city elections.
B. An opportunity for Councilman Jimmy Marcos to host a Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce event
at TJ Elliot's and make some money off it.
C. A speech given to one special interest group in the City of Bowie - many
of whom don't even live in the City of Bowie personally but just own businesses here.
D. Prior to 2007, a speech that
can be given in late March or late October depending on when city elections are allowed to occur in the City of Bowie since
it is timed to give the incumbent Mayor free publicity in the Blade News right before elections.
E. A speech that
is now given in January after the Bowie City Activist discovered the timing of the speech changed right along with Gee Fred
Flintstone's self serving change of our city election cycles, and exposed the collusion between the City administration, Blade
News and the GBCC. Gee Fred Flintstone ran unopposed for Mayor in 2005 because of the unleveled playing field and the Bowie
City Activist sent a certified letter to the Bowie Chamber of Commerce in December, 2005 threatening legal action if they
continued the anti-competitive practice.
OK class. What is the answer?
No Todd Turner, there isn't
an "F" option with "all of the above" although you would be right since you are the smartest of the class.
Dennis,
stop bothering the girls - leave Geraldine and Diane alone.
Now pass your papers to the front. Dennis Brady, kindly
put your name at the top of the sheet, I am not a mind reader. Gee Frederick, you have misspelled your own name again!
Thank
you children. Jimmy Marcos, put away that comic book immediately and come up here, I'd like you to read the correct answer.
Gee Fred Flintstone, stop picking your nose and eating your boogers! That's disgusting!
OK, Jimmy Marcos, tell
us the answer?

Greetings Friends! Welcome to the Bowie City Activist website
- Bowie's grass roots advocacy for change in the City of Bowie; covering developments and advocating accountability in Bowie
City Government. WHAT WOULD DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING THINK OF BOWIE'S MAYOR GEE FRED ROBINSON?
EDITOR'S NOTE:
This blog entry was adapted from my Bowie City Activist e-mail distribution. The public can be added to the blind copy distribution
of The Bowie City Activist e-mail updates by contacting me at richarddahms@comcast.net.
Each January, we celebrate
the life of a Great American, Dr. Martin Luther King. This year, I am reflecting on the thought of "what would Dr. King think
of Mayor Gee Fred Robinson"?
Dr. King was arrested and detained by police often during the civil rights movement as
Dr. King stood up for freedom, liberty, civil liberties and civil rights against the Fred Robinson's of his time.
For
me personally, I wonder:
• What would Dr. King's reaction be if City Code Enforcement was selectively sent inside Dr.
King's home against his protests of Constitutional rights - treated differently than anybody else in the City? Would Dr. King
stand for the rape of his Constitutional rights if Robinson sent Code Enforcement inside Dr. King's home? • What
would Dr. King's reaction be to the City's backpedaling after the rape of his Constitutional rights because the City did not
know the difference between a rental property and a homeowner occupied property, and what would be Dr. King's reaction to
Robinson's BIG LIE that Dr. King had some sort of grudge over a code violation?
• What would Dr. King's reaction be
to the Robinson censure every time he got up to speak at a City Council meeting, he would be selectively taken off camera
so viewers at home could not see him speak - interrupting and violating Dr. King's citizens participation? But videotapes
of Council Meetings clearly show speakers before and after Dr. King were allowed their citizens participation rights - but
not Dr. King. What would be Dr. King's reaction to Robinson denying his citizens participation rights?
• What would
Dr. King's reaction be to Robinson's stonewalling his requests for access to the City's financial records for two years in
violation of the Maryland Public Information Act? • What would Dr. King's reaction be to having his long row of campaign
signs along a prominent fence on Northview Drive maliciously stolen every night during the 1998 City election? What would
Dr. King's reaction be to having his other political signs taken because he was told they were placed on the City rights of
way, and then see Robinson's signs be allowed by the City on the right of ways in subsequent years - I guess because Robinson
is above the law. Would Dr. King tolerate such discriminatory action by the City? • What would Dr. King think about
Robinson spending city tax money attacking the C&C Dance Company?
• What would Dr. King think about Robinson's violation
of both the principle and legality of Article 34 of our State constitution about our declared right in Maryland to have a
rotation in the Executive branch of government - keeping David Deutsch and his Napoleonic complex as head of the City of Bowie
for 15 years and thereby blocking diversity in the top City administration jobs?
• What would Dr. King think about
Robinson's hijacking democracy and changing election cycles to further his own incumbency and delaying African American advancement
on the Bowie City Council?
• What would Dr. King's reaction be to Gee Fred Flintstone and David Deutsch's collusion
with the Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce cronies to block participation in the 2005 city election so Gee Fred could run
unopposed. I wasn't going to waste my time, talent, money or energy running against Gee Fred in 2005 when I discovered the
collusion. Some people have suggested to me that there should be a criminal probe of Robinson and Deutsch on this point alone.
I appreciate and respect Dr. King's life and the causes that he stood for. I don't think Dr. King would tolerate Fred
Robinson's actions noted above if they had happened to him. My understanding of Dr. King's life is that he stood for principles
that are completely opposite to that of Mayor Gee Fred Robinson.
Gee Fred Robinson believes "Might Makes Right". Dr.
King believed "Character and Principle Makes Right".
Just because you have the power and might to step all over people,
violate peoples' rights, rape their Constitutional and civil rights, doesn't make it right Gee Fred! Didn't Dr. King stand
up for those people who were disenfranchised and violated by the Gee Fred Robinsons of this world? As noted, Dr. King was
the recipient of police intimidation, and was arrested and detained by police during the struggles of the civil rights movement,
and was martyred for his beliefs.
I have to wonder if I were of African American ethnicity, and the things that I have
experienced personally over the past 20 years at the hands of the complete animal moron we have for a mayor in Bowie, wouldn't
the NAACP have rallied to my defense? Wouldn't Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have come to Bowie to my defense? Would Gee Fred
Flintstone be so cavalier and disrespectful of my personal civil liberties and my constitutional right to be secure in my
own home free of city government intrusion - if I were African American?
What about the retaliation I experienced in
September, 2006 due to my support for the much more qualified Ingrid Turner, an African American? Thankfully, States Attorney
Glenn Ivey did not believe the compulsive liar we have for a mayor. If these two City Hall clowns had any integrity, Gee
Fred and David Deutsch would resign.
What about Gee Fred Robinson, Dennis Brady and Blade News crony Judge Gerard Devlin's
successful scheme to alter our city elections in order to extend Robinson, Brady and Jenkins incumbencies an extra 1 1/2 years?
Didn't their successful scheme result in holding back African American representation and African American advancement on
the Bowie City Council? Where was the NAACP, and why wasn't there a civil rights march on City hall?
Mayor Gee Fred
Flintstone was a product of the PG County Police department era that was the subject of a Federal civil rights investigation.
Fortunately for all of us, Mayor Gee Fred Flintstone and his "might makes right" mentality was never elevated to higher levels
of elected office.
What would Dr. Martin Luther King think of Gee Fred Flintstone? I don't think Dr. Martin Luther
King would have a very high opinion of our Mayor Gee Fred Flintstone. Do you?
THE STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS
As
stated in the City Hall satire on this webpage, January is the new month of the state of the City Address after bouncing around
with Mayor Gee Fred Flintstone's changes in our election cycle. The State of the City address in Bowie is still very amateur
and somewhat comical in how it is done at the City level versus the professional manner at the State level.
Governor
O'Malley gave the State of the State address this past week. Please take note of the following contrasts between how the State
of Maryland and the City of Bowie administer these major addresses:
1. The Governor's State of the State address is
mandated by our State Constitution, but there is no provision in the Code of Bowie for a "State of the City" address for which
The Bowie City Activist has been advocating.
2. The "State of the State" address is given a couple months after the
November State elections while the State of the City address, until very recently as a result of my exposure of the collusion
between the City administration and one local media outlet, was given before the city elections in order to provide free publicity
for the incumbent Mayor of Bowie.
3. The timing of the State of the State address doesn't change with changes in election
cycles. In contrast, the State of the City address has moved from late March just prior to our old spring elections, to October
as a result of Gee Fred Flintstone's high jacking of our city elections, to now January. The timing of the State of the City
address sure bounces around a lot in Bowie!
4. The State of the State address is given by the Chief Executive of
Maryland, the Governor and not given by a member of the State Legislature. However, in Bowie, the opposite occurs. The Chief
Executive Officer (the City Manager) doesn't give the State of the City address but instead is given by an At-Large member
of the City Council - our ceremonial mayor.
If we were allowed to have healthy debate in Bowie, I would have raised
the issues my mayoral candidacy raised in 2007 in opposition of Gee Fred Flintstone at the GBCC's "State of the City" address.
I would have talked about the City's litter problem, about how senior citizens are being financially squeezed in Bowie - the
need for city tax credits for seniors, Nash Woods and Bowie State University annexation.
As we all know, nothing will
get accomplished for the citizens of Bowie over the next two years with Fred Flintstone as Mayor - other than the progress
on the new City Hall building.
I thought I would use Governor O'Malley's State of the State address as an opportunity
to contrast the difference between Maryland State Government which operates in a professional manner in the Big Leagues versus
the comical and corrupt banana republic regime of Mayor Gee Fred Flintstone and the Napoleonic David Deutsch.
